The Elkay Solenoid Valve 35981C is found in the Elkay EZ and Halsey Taylor HTV series drinking fountains.

The Elkay solenoid valve controls the flow of water. When the push bar is pressed, a switch behind the push bar sends electricity to this valve, which opens the valve and lets water flow. When the push bar is released, the solenoid closes and water flow stops.

If your water continues to flow after you release the push bar, unplug the drinking fountain from the wall. If the water continues to flow after the unit is unplugged, you have a bad solenoid. Once the solenoid valve goes bad it must be replaced.
